already failed
so my intention was to quit christmas consumerism and I have already failed in the essence of completely quitting. without my knowledge I was put into one of my jobs "seceret pals" it is the equivalent to secret santa and goes every week until christmas break. so I have already had to make purchases in the spirit of christmas. This is even before Halloween. Oh well, I'm still sticking to it the best I can.

Some organizations, I think World Vision etc have a program where instead of buying a person a gift you buy a need for a third world community. For example if you were buying me a gift you would say that my gift was buying a family a goat etc. I'm not sure if that makes sense on paper! But that way not only are you giving back, you are actually helping a community too and not just making someones stocking bigger....just a thought....
